Many fields are weed-free right now. Either moisture has been inadequate for a major flush of weeds after planting or PRE herbicides (generally with Strongarm or Valor SX in the program) have been very effective. If fields are clean do not rush to spray. Save that money until it looks like weeds are breaking through the PRE herbicides. When will that occur? I am not sure but we know PPI/PRE combinations won’t hold throughout the entire season. If you get through the first month with clean fields consider it a gift. But be ready to spray PPO inhibitors with residual herbicides once the PREs breakdown.
