It's time for the annual Youth Food Security Summit!
This free event for teens ages 13-18 is happening on Saturday, September 12, from 10 AM–4 PM at the Chavis Community Center!
This year’s theme, Rooted in Action, is all about moving beyond learning and finding real ways to make a difference in our communities. This free, youth-focused event is designed by teens, for teens, and brings together young people, community leaders, and local organizations to explore food insecurity and take action.
Throughout the day, participants will:
- Hear from youth speakers and community leaders about food security and community change
- Learn about the root causes of food insecurity and how our local food system works
- Choose from interactive workshops in the morning and afternoon
- Connect with local organizations and discover ways to get involved
- Participate in a hands-on community service project
- Earn 2 verified community service hours
And yes, there are some great perks! Registration is FREE, lunch is provided, and every participant receives a FREE T-shirt.
Whether you’re already passionate about food justice or just want to learn more, this is a chance to meet other teens, explore issues that affect our communities, and leave with ideas and tools you can put into action.
