Collapse ▲Wake County 4-H Spaces is a Wake County Health and Human Services 4-H youth development program. The program utilizes evidence based and research supported curricula to facilitate small group experiential educational lessons focused on engaging youth in life skills activities that improve and develop their critical thinking and decision-making skills. The youth apply their group experiences to their real-life daily interactions and challenges, to promote personal success and reduce the likelihood of becoming involved in or continued involvement in the criminal justice and improve decision-making in school and home environments. The program serves 80 youth all over Wake County and provides transportation for them to and from the life skills enhancing group.
Wake County 4-H SPACESTOO is a Wake County health and Human Services juvenile intervention and prevention program. The program utilizes the Experiential Learning Theory (learn from experiences) and Positive Youth Development framework (positive learning environment and interaction with youth) as foundations to implement small groups consisting of 8-10 participants for youth ages 16-18. These strategies are the foundation of 4-H and provide opportunities to enhance critical thinking and decision-making skills. The curricula used by the program is evidence based and research supported and focused on improving and developing critical thinking and decision-making skills. The goal is for the youth to apply what they have learned in group to their real-life situations and prepare to enhance their educational and or career development. The program is grant funded and focused on improved personal success and reducing the likelihood of youth becoming involved or continuing involvement in the criminal justice system. The program serves 70 youth all over Wake County and provides transportation for them to and from the life skills enhancing group.
